360° Tripod Mount Any Phone 3D Printed · 模型 257671
Smartphone companies are flooding the smartphone photography market with higher and better quality cameras and a wide array of super cool and revolutionary photography softwares and apps. However, there doesn't seem to be any accessory products (tripods, mounts, lenses, etc.) to support all these new photography apps. I became really intrigued with this one particular app, Photosphere by Google (search it up, it's neat). And the app name varies from brand to brand, but they all allow the user to capture a complete 360 degree photo. None of that panorama stuff either. This is a legit 360 degree picture in all directions. The main issue I found was that it was nearly impossible to tilt and rotate my phone perfectly along the axis of the camera to get a seamless stitch between all 50 some of the pictures. So, I decided to design a phone mount that was able to: 1. Attach onto any tripod with a 1/4" screw. 2. Freely pivot around the horizontal axis. 3. Adjust to hold any phone. 4. Adjust to the center vertical axis of any phone camera. 5. Be fully 3D printed (aside from screws, springs and nuts). Extra considerations: 1. Portable. 2. Light. 3. Durable I designed the tripod in a total of 8 separate parts. 3 parts for the actual phone holder. 1 part for the ball bearing assembly. 2 parts for the pivoting arm. 2 parts for the base tripod connector. After the design work, I printed prototypes of several of the parts on my high school's Sindoh printer. I was testing if a 0.2 mm margin would be enough to account for the printer error. It wasn't. So, it was back to hours of redesigning. I found that a 0.6 mm margin was pretty good. After all that, I reprinted and everything fit really well together. M6-1.0 x 12 mm Cap Screws and M6-1.0 Hex Nuts were used to connect the phone holder to the tripod base. A nut was epoxied onto the ball bearing assembly. Two springs were placed inside the phone holder assembly to create the clamping force needed to hold the phone. A rubber grip was epoxied to one side of the phone holder for better phone traction. Coolest part about the project: the ball bearing assembly. It spun right off of the printer bed, which was really exciting. Hardest part about the project: finding the right margins. It was difficult accounting for the printer and plastic errors that made each part fit together just right. Design improvements: allow for less wiggle room in the ball bearing assembly. Also, slightly increase the depth of the phone...
