A 9x4.7 propeller for airplane and multicopter designs. I created a ruby script that uses prop geometry from http://www.ae.illinois.edu/m-selig/props/propDB.html and airfoil geometry from http://airfoiltools.com/airfoil/details?airfoil=naca4412-il to create 2d slices of the propeller. I then imported them into Solidworks and lofted them together to create the propeller. The airfoil, chord, and betas are correct, however the positioning of each slice is estimated with two piecewise functions. UPDATE: I got rid of the wonky hub connection and now the blade is all one loft. Yay! I also updated the blade geometry so it is all one airfoil shape (NACA 4412). I had squished the airfoil in the thicker regions in the previous version. UPDATE: Reworked my code and the propeller is much more accurate. I went back to squished airfoils b/c it was getting too thick -- 3mm at some points. Visit http://whenrobotsfly.tumblr.com/ for code and details.
