This drum motor was designed for material handling applications to control tote movement, regulate conveyor traffic, and provide controlled acceleration on roller conveyor systems. The design also includes an encoder for speed feedback, enabling closed-loop speed control, acceleration monitoring, and more accurate motion control during conveyor operation. Note: This prototype was ultimately unsuccessful because the selected motor did not provide sufficient torque for the intended application. If you plan to use this design, carefully recalculate the motor requirements based on your load, speed, acceleration, and duty cycle. The mechanical concept itself performed well, and I believe it can be successfully implemented using a higher-performance motor, such as those from Maxon or Faulhaber. I am sharing this project as a learning resource. Feel free to study, improve, and redesign it with your own ideas.
