Advanced Mining Technologies - RASSOR Bucket Drum · 模型 267776

Here is AMT RWTH Aachen University Student Project Team’s design draught for the “NASA RASSOR Bucket Drum Design Challenge”. This design has three divided compartments and one shovel per compartment. The main idea behind this design is using supercritical and under-critical rotational speed during loading and unloading. During the excavation of the material and drum loading the supercritical rotational speed provides a high centrifugal force, which overcomes the gravitational force and causes that the excavated regolith sticks to the peripheral walls of the bucket drum. As a result of that, there will be a very high fill ratio during loading provided. The current design is based on a concept using a target filling of 75% of the total drum volume based on the efficiency of the dynamic filling process. During discharge, the rotational speed is less than the critical rotational speed. Hence the regolith falls off the walls and exits the bucket by the gravity force and the drum will be unloaded. As an unloading aid one or more simple discharging wings are attached to the inner drum periphery adjacent to the entry scoop. This bucket drum has a very simple design and functionality, which is a major advantage in a very remote operation without any maintenance and repair. The drum material used in our first design is titanium for shell and side plates. The cutting edge may be designed from hardened steel which has a high hardness and abrasion resistance. Each drum comes with a total mass of approx. 4.7 kg and a loading volume of approx. 33 litres. The drive configuration may have • a conventional drive of the current RASSOR • or it optionally may consist of a gearmotor drive located at the end of the ranging arm, concentrically to the drums. The CAD-Files provided show an integrated Gearmotor, but can be easily replaced with a shaft. Further information and a complete description can be found in the attached pdf. Technical Data of the current design status: Maximum total width of scoops engaged at any given time: 120 mm Maximum bucket drum mass: 4.7 kg Maximum bucket drum diameter: 450 mm Bucket drum length: 360 mm No. of compartments per drum: 3 No. of scoops per compartment: 1 Variable drum rotation: • Charging rpm approx.: 43 rpm • Discharging rpm approx.: 15 rpm A target volume of regolith captured (total Rassor, 4 drums) • overcritical rotation approx. 132 litres • stop of rotation, approx. 100 litres
