Aero-Latch: Optimized Two-Part Mechanical Locking System · 模型 44050
This project presents a compact, two-part mechanical locking mechanism designed for drawer lids and portable cases. The design focuses on minimizing part count while maximizing structural integrity and ease of manufacturing through injection molding. - Mechanism: A two-part system featuring a sliding latch arm and integrated circular button that engages with a slotted curved housing. - User Experience: Engineered for effortless interaction, requiring a maximum unlocking force of only 39.6 N, well within ergonomic standards for manual operation. -Versatile Mounting: Includes integrated mounting holes on both components for easy installation on various surfaces. The Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was performed in ANSYS to ensure the lock is both easy to use and structurally sound. Using a refined mesh for accuracy, the study focused on two main areas; he simulation confirmed that the force needed to unlock the latch is 39.6 N, which is within the comfortable range for manual operation, and When tested under a 100 N load, the design remained stable with a safety factor of 1.68. The results show that the Polycarbonate material effectively handles the necessary elastic deformation without yielding or breaking.
