AFFA Robotics — Robotic Arm | 2017–2018 AFFA Robotics was my final engineering project at ETAP, developed to provide greater independence to children with disabilities attending CRITIC Pombal, Portugal by allowing them to independently position and adjust a computer screen. As Project Leader and Mechanical Engineer, I developed the mechanical system from the ground up, including the component design, structure, internal gearbox and a custom mechanical clutch adapted from a motorcycle friction disc. The design was developed in CAD, evaluated using FEA, manufactured, assembled and integrated with the electronic and control systems. I was 19 years old when I developed the project, combining the practical mechanical experience I had gained since childhood with the engineering principles I was beginning to learn academically.
