The Q9873 optocoupler sensor is actually an angular position sensor. This optical sensor requires a mechanical disk to be mounted on the motor shaft, and the optocoupler sensor is mounted on it. Light from the light-emitting diodes reaches the light receiver through transparent slits from the rotation of the disk.
