All these new-fangled computer doo-dads in aircraft nowadays have so many supporting LRUs. Where do you mount them all? On the outside? Well, if you have empty space in the radio rack: use it! Now, for the low low price of FREE(ish). This sheet metal shelf is designed to fit the width of most small GA radio racks. Our shop has used these to mount everything from GADs and GEAs to remote audio panels and transponders. Tabs are included for mounting a cover plate to hide all of your horrible crimps and sharp ziptie stubs. Designed for .040 aluminum (I might be able to change that if anyone requests it. The original model SHOULD be parametric.). An online manufacturing service such as Send Cut Send could produce lots of these very cheaply*. The mounting holes are generic, so feel free to delete them and drill your own. Both DXF and STEP file included for people that're, y'know, actually good at CAD. *But only if they offer the correct alloy and maintain traceability, of course. (The NTSB hates this one easy hack...)
