This study presents a systematic approach to develop the structural design of a telescopic mast used in tactical aerostats. The design concept draws inspiration from lead screw actuators and is intended for installation on Ground Handling Systems to facilitate aerostat deployment in remote locations with limited human involvement, thus emphasizing its compactness when fully retracted. Furthermore, the design incorporates two arms for deploying the mooring cushion and is operated by a single motor, with a key focus on reducing components, energy consumption, and withstanding aerostat-induced loads.
