AstroEnergy: Automated Modular Connectivity System for Extraterrestrial Structures · 模型 115242
In response to NASA’s challenge for robotic outfitting in space, in collaboration with Ignacio Bertran, Ivan Nieto Funes and Renzo D'Amelio a solution was developed to automate electrical and data connectivity for the ARMADA modular structure. This involves modular plates with integrated power and data lines, designed with side rails for robot navigation. The robot autonomously installs these hinged plates, which feature a pressure-fit mechanism for secure attachment. Various plate types accommodate horizontal, corner, and vertical connections. The robot’s design, while conceptual, demonstrates feasibility for future development. It moves along the rails, places new plates, and ensures secure connections. This automated approach is crucial for future space missions, reducing reliance on human labor and increasing efficiency. Such innovations are key to making extraterrestrial construction a reality, transforming ambitious visions into practical goals for future space exploration. Gratitude is extended to Professor Marcelo Valderrey for introducing to this NASA challenge and for his support and guidance throughout the design process, which was pivotal to the project’s success.
