This is a concept car body model created as my first attempt at advanced surface modeling using CATIA V5. The design is inspired by the iconic Audi R8, focusing on capturing its sleek, aggressive lines and aerodynamic flow while learning the principles of automotive surface design. The project was completed from scratch using reference images and approximate dimensions, emphasizing both design aesthetics and surface continuity. 🔧 Software & Workbenches Used: CATIA V5 ▪️ Freestyle Workbench – For creating smooth, freeform curves and Class-A style surfaces ▪️ Generative Shape Design (GSD) – To refine and control surface quality, transitions, and curvature ▪️ Wireframe and Surface Design – To construct associative geometry and support advanced surfacing ▪️ Shading & Visualization Tools – Used to evaluate surface reflections, smoothness, and panel flow 🌟 Model Highlights: Full car body exterior modeled from scratch (no downloaded geometry) Focused on curvature continuity (G1 and G2) for clean transitions Detailed roofline, fender arches, hood surfaces, and aerodynamic side profiles Surface patches created using multi-blend, sweep, and boundary tools Visualized using CATIA’s native shaded render modes 🎯 Project Goals: Learn and apply Class-A surface modeling techniques Understand automotive styling principles and surface blending logic Improve CAD modeling workflow for organic, freeform designs Build a strong foundation for portfolio development and professional design work 📌 File Information: Format: .CATPart (native CATIA V5 file) Version: CATIA V5 R20 or later File includes clean surface geometry (no internal solids or assemblies) 📝 Important Notes: This is a concept model intended for design practice, visualization, and educational purposes.
