This project presents a floating robotic system specifically designed for the efficient removal of water hyacinth from rivers, canals, and stagnant water bodies. The robot operates on the water surface and combines mechanical cutting, conveying, and collection mechanisms into a single integrated mechatronics solution. The system uses a buoyant floating chassis that ensures stability and smooth movement over water. Water hyacinth plants are first cut using a moving mechanical cutting mechanism, designed to handle dense vegetation while minimizing energy consumption and mechanical stress. After cutting, the plants are transferred onto a moving conveyor belt system, which transports the water hyacinth toward a collection box. The collection box is designed as a filter-like container (mesh-based structure) that allows excess water to drain out while retaining the plant material, reducing overall load and improving efficiency. Robot propulsion and maneuvering are achieved using three brushless motors equipped with propellers, providing reliable thrust, directional control, and enhanced stability during operation. This propulsion configuration enables the robot to navigate efficiently in shallow waters and crowded aquatic environments. The mechanical structure and all components were designed and assembled using SolidWorks, with a strong focus on modularity, ease of maintenance, and resistance to wet and harsh environmental conditions. This robotic system offers an eco-friendly, safe, and cost-effective alternative to manual water hyacinth removal, contributing to improved water flow, reduced environmental pollution, and sustainable waterway management.
