Designed a Bicycle storage container. Objective: To design and model (in CAD) a container, that locks to the front fork of a bicycle. The design must integrate a locking mechanism, such that, when the device is attached and locked to the bicycle, the container is unremovable from the bicycle. However, with the use of some sort of key/unlocking mechanism, the device should be easily removable from the forks of the bicycle, revealing the insides of the container. Approach: • The bicycle container designed here is fixed to the Headset of the bike by means of a clamp. • This restricts the movement of the Container. It is strong enough to hold the container and made of Steel and hard plastic. • The container has two legs, each attaches to either side of the front axle by means of a Quick Release. • The legs are then attached to Lids on top by means of a hinge mechanism which allows it to rotate freely. • The container can only be accessed when the legs are freed by the quick release. • The Container cannot be accessed if the bicycle is in motion as the legs are fixed to the quick release mechanism. • The legs can be made of stainless steel or 6061 T6 Aluminum for adequate strength. • The container has hinged on either side on which the other end of the Top Lid is attached.
