this is a conceptual design of the steering of the bloodhound car the purpose of this design is to give the driver a better grip therefore the shape of grip ,here the upper portion is made thicker than the lower one. The driver of these high speed car are under high pressure and so they need a better grip to hold on . As you have noticed, i have placed all the buttons or the triggers on the upper part so that they can be easily pressed using the thumb. The main reasons for this was that driver are already at so much stress and you cannot expect them to look at the steering while pressing a button so i placed all the button in upper part so that driver can access them with convenience. I have placed the buttons to deploy the brakes on one side and the button to deploy airbrake on other sides for simplicity. The triggers are placed between the grip at upper region where thumb can easily locate them. Also if looking from aesthetic point of view the steering look quite stylish with colours matching the car's colour and also due to presense of a cool lcd display at the center. suggestions and likes are welcome
