Casper is an experimental, high-lift UAV platform nicknamed after the white ghost for its smooth silhouette and unusual presence in the sky. The UAV measures 1.5 m in length with a 2.0 m wingspan, giving it a compact yet powerful form factor. Using a moderate-mesh SolidWorks simulation, Casper produces around 650 N of lift and 120 N of drag in baseline conditions, yielding an L/D ratio of ~5.4. At higher test speeds, the aerodynamic response scales dramatically, reaching 7000 N of lift and 1200 N of drag at 100 m/s (L/D ≈ 5.8). This shows that while the design can generate strong lift, there remains room for refinement in efficiency and drag reduction. Casper’s geometry is unconventional—featuring rear landing openings and structural details that break away from typical UAV design rules. This oddity is part of its charm, lending both research and entertainment potential. note: no engine included
