The collet profile self guiding nature and it's rigid connection will sustain the G-forces subject to it. The latch mechanism is reliant on simple collet finger deflection which contributes to it's resilience to temperature and G-force issues. The latch also maintain tension between segments. The microswitch is used to confirm positive engagement among the hexagon segments. To ensure a flush connection between the hexagon segments, a shock load system has been incorporated. This system is derived from a slider-crank mechanism and can be remotely activated during deployment to ensure positive engagement of the hexagon segments.
