A friend commissioned me to build a steampunk-themed lamp as a Christmas present for her husband. It had to fit in a fairly small area, was requested to be dim-able, and provide USB connectivity/charging. This is what I came up with. Quick description (since I already typed this all up once before, and then my browser crashed, and frankly, I don't much feel like writing it all again...): Power switch on back. When powered on, it will charge USB devices and if plugged into a computer, it will also provide connectivity to that device. Spigot handles are attached to quadrature encoders useing JB weld. Encoder adapters, lamp shade, diffuser, and USB cover are all 3D printed. I used "Rub-n-Buff" to give them their color. Top handle changes "color temperature" from candle to 40W Tungsten to 100W tungsten, to bright day, to cloudy sky, to blue sky and a couple of settings in between.. side handle changes brightness. After the user/operator changes light settings and 30S have passed, the lamp stores the settings in internal EEPROM. Next time it is powered on, it will start from those last-saved settings. The top can swing from ~-20 degrees to about +90 degrees. Custom circuit board gerbers, datasheets for electronic parts, and software are included as a part of this model. Use at your own risk.
