Corrosion inhibitors are chemical substances that dampen the corrosion process. They can be applied to the tank’s interior or exterior and are available in various forms. Depending on the stored product, liquid inhibitors may be applied to the electrolyte directly. Other inhibitors can be applied near vulnerable external areas, such as the tank chime, chime rings, sleeve systems and perforated PVC pipes. A class of corrosion inhibiting compounds which have vapor pressures higher than that of air can also be used. These molecules will adsorb to the surface of steel and block other molecules from coming in contact with the steel
