CryoSnap Valve - Simple Leak Reducing Mechanism · 模型 115224
Hello, I am pleased to present my design project: This work involves the design of a coupling mechanism for NASA’s challenge titled "Low Leakage Cryogenic Disconnects for Fuel Transfer and Long-Term Storage." link: https://grabcad.com/challenges/low-leakage-cryogenic-disconnects-for-fuel-transfer-and-long-term-storage/entries The design process was based on the divergent-convergent creative post-processing approach, using the state of the art and utilizing a spectrum of conceptual solutions. Through this process, successive improves were gained by analyzing and associating existing ideas, while continuously seeking innovative solutions to meet the challenge’s requirements effectively. This project was completed as part of the course "Synthesis of Mechanisms and Machines" in the fifth year of the Mechanical Engineering carrer. In my final design, the most important features are: - A simple and robust mechanism with few components, designed to withstand extreme temperature variations without compromising performance. - A conical and intricate sealing surface, which helps center the coupling and reduce fluid escape through pressure losses in the complex geometry. - An integrated one-way valve on the tank side, which prevents contamination by sealing tightly with a spring when disconnected. Fluid flow automatically opens the valve, ensuring smooth operation without external control. - A special function of the mechanism is the ability to use low-pressure fluid without opening the valve, while removing external dirt from the tank-side coupling. This fluid can then be purged before allowing pressurized fluid to flow. - The coupling and decoupling could be achieved through magnetism, with its operation varying depending on the robot used for the connection. More information and detalis in the report. Thanks for reading, Renzo.
