A project I made as a part of school, Its a DIY wind tunnel. I made a far simplified version which works really well, given its size. All you would need for this is a 120mm fan (preferably one with a speed controller) and a low-power smoke machine (400w maximum). Otherwise, I recommend either stacking plastic straws or 3D printing the honeycomb mesh, and you'll need a piece of acrylic for the window. Then everything else can be made out of wood, except the hinge, on the lid (if you decide to make it, my hand could put things in without a lid just fine).
