Enigma I Replica · 模型 113640
if you download it please consider thumbs up too, thnx ! ;) I recreated a fully functional Enigma I device with a few internal modernizations, using micro switches, LEDs and a microcontroller so it can be used as a HID connected to USB. The CAD model i created is based on HS Weingarten's 2D drawings (http://enigma.hs-weingarten.de/drawings.php) of the original Enigma I device. Of course i needed to modify many parts to be 3D printed. I also designed the outer case based on Enigma I photos. My printer of choice is a Formlabs FUSE 1 for high-resolution, durable SLS printing in PA12. To simplify the build, I modernized some internal things while keeping the mechanics and exterior as close as possible to the Enigma I blueprints. 1) I replaced the bulbs with 10mm LED with yellow light, because the original flattened E10 bulbs are not so well available anymore (the normal E10 are too high) and LEDs consume less power. No RGB, sorry :) 2) Instead of designing my own switches like in the pictures, I thought that standard SPDT long lever microswitches might be just right. I just had to design brackets and actuators for them and customize the buttons a bit for this purpose. 3) To simplify the construction of the cypher wheels, UKW and ETW I designed two PCBs and using pogo pins for the contacts. Coping: https://aisler.net/p/YQMPSVVL Access plate: https://aisler.net/p/GZSSLBPB 4) For the plugboard I used 3.5mm mono jack sockets with switch and made my own cables or it. 5) I figured that while this device can't run Doom (yet), it at least needs an Arduino. So that's what I did. Now the Enigma can be connected to a computer and used as a keyboard, maybe as password generator?! 6) Power comes from an integrated 18650 Li-Ion Battery (with USB charging circuit) or directly from USB. The Charging circuit has a buck converter too. I set it to 9V and calculated the LED resistors accordingly. If you don’t want to use any of this (5&6) you can simply replace them by a 9V Block and forge the rest (saves about 70 euros too). As for how to wire the cypher wheels, UKW and ETW I followed the information found here: https://www.cryptomuseum.com/crypto/enigma/wiring.htm https://www.cryptomuseum.com/crypto/enigma/i/index.htm While I'm not 100% sure I got it right, the Enigma does the job. I just don't have anything to compare it to. I’m publishing all my files under Creative-Commons-License CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. no more space here, so please see doc-file ...
