Flow fuse cartridges are used to maintain the position of a hydraulic actuator in the event of a hose or line break. The valve allows flow to and from the actuator but closes instantly if flow from the actuator exceeds the setting of the valve. NOTE: Because the valve responds so rapidly, it is sensitive to any transient flow above the valve setting. Customer must specify a flow rating. Factory set flow ratings are within +/- 15% of the requested setting. Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals. Valve closes when flow from port 1 to port 2 exceeds the setting of the valve. Valve resets when pressures at port 1 and port 2 are equal. Flow setting should be at least 25% above maximum normal system flow. Customer must specify flow when ordering valve. These are spool type valves, therefore there is leakage. Some actuator drift may occur. Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations. The FQBAXAN is a fixed-orifice flow fuse valve designed to protect hydraulic systems by automatically shutting off flow when it exceeds a preset limit, preventing uncontrolled motion, hose burst hazards, and component damage. With a rated capacity of 8.5 L/min and compatibility with the T-162A cavity, it provides reliable, tamper-resistant flow limitation in a compact cartridge format that integrates directly into hydraulic manifolds and circuit blocks. The flow fuse operates on a simple, robust principle: under normal flow conditions, the fixed orifice allows fluid to pass freely; if flow exceeds the set threshold—such as during a line rupture or actuator runaway—the increased pressure differential across the orifice causes the fuse to close, blocking further flow and safeguarding the system and personnel. The fixed-orifice design ensures consistent, repeatable trip performance without adjustment or external sensing, making it ideal for safety-critical applications where reliability and simplicity are paramount. Constructed with a durable body, precision-machined internal components, and high-quality seals, the FQBAXAN delivers dependable operation, low leakage, and long service life under demanding pressure and flow conditions.
