The situation is such that I need a crush washer to seal a 37 deg flair fitting that is stainless to stainless. The flair size is 3/8", so I find a 3/8" crush washer but is too large to fit inside the nut of the mating parts. I'm confused. If I try and use on a 3/8" brass flair fitting, the washers I found work perfectly. My conundrum is I need to use stainless. So I found a 6.2mm ID X 14MM OD flat copper washer and will reform them to fit into my application using the simple two stage punch design. I only need to make two dozen of these, that gives me a dozen spares. The first step is to stretch the ID to be 0.305" the second step is to shape it to 37 degrees. I'm sure that there will be some spring back so the angle will not be exactly 37 deg when finished, but the installation will crush it to the correct shape when installed.
