FRC 1922 - 2026 Drive Base · 模型 261729
Parameterized Drive Base post TL;DR This post brings the off season parameterized drive base that FRC 1922 has been developing. This year’s design focused on optimizing the electronics layout on the underside of the robot as well as making the overall layout configurable. Details Like last year’s post this year’s uses the Swerve Drive Specialties MK4n swerve modules. What is new this year is that it is possible, in Fusion, to switch the swerve modules between different orientations. One of the orientations has the modules aligned front to back along the long axis of the module. The other configuration has two of the modules aligned along the long axis and the other two parallel to each other. Depending on the desired super structure this could provide just enough additional space to sneak in a specific mechanism deeper into the drive base. Another thing that is new this year is that we have run two additional chassis rails in the base to help stiffen the structure, provide some additional support for the battery, create a well contained space to house the electronics and provide additional mounting points for superstructure elements. While not strictly needed we think that the additional weight is a reasonable tradeoff for the improvements it brings to the overall design. Oh yeah, and one more thing. We changed the hole spacing in the top pan and tubing to be .5” spacing as opposed to 1”. We did this because it provides just a little more flexibility when laying out the sub assemblies and locating connecting points, e.g. standoffs, between the components.
