Fretboard Nut Slotting Jig · 模型 23992
This jig is intended for precision cutting a slot in the fretboard for a Fender-style nut. It is designed to be used in combination with a fret slotting template, utilizing an indexing pin for precise location of the fretboard. Longitudinal adjustment is achieved through the use of an eccentric nut located in a purpose made adjustment plate. Vertical adjustment (for nut slot depth) is achieved by micro-adjustment of the router bit position in the collet. The slot width is determined by the router bit diameter (Ø3.2mm, for example). I have built this jig and proven that it can produce a repeatedly accurate nut slot in a fretboard. Some components of the jig are designed around parts and materials that I had available at the time and some parts have been taken from existing equipment and re-purposed for the design. The traversing system is built around 'off-the-shelf' components, including a linear guide carriage & rail; a lead screw and associated components; and a hand wheel. Standard horizontal toggle clamps are used to hold down the fretboard (attached to the fret slotting template). The router mounting system uses an 'off-the-shelf' spindle mount. The remaining components are made from stock items. All of the manufactured parts can be fabricated by hand. I have uploaded engineering drawings to aid in the manufacture of the jig.
