The E.444/E.447/E.444R are railway locomotives designed in the 1960s to provide the Italian State Railways with powerful and fast engines, suitable for hauling the most important trains, particularly express trains and international services, and all types of convoys that could reach speeds of 180 km/h on the straightest routes, with peaks of 200 km/h, when all other locomotives existing at the time did not exceed 140 km/h. For twenty years (the 1970s and 1980s), the E.444s (117 units in total) were the flagship of Italian locomotives, a role later inherited by the E.402 group. FS E.444 Locomotive
