GenX- Energy saving Lid · 模型 257598
Introduction: Energy waste is a largely invisible issue despite its impact on our pockets and the environment. According to U.S. department of Energy, cooking accounts for 4.5% of total energy use in U.S. homes. Also, the percentage is much higher in other countries of the world. Hence we designed a concave shaped cooking lid with an ergonomic handle. This cooking pan cover is designed for fitting on and covering the top of various pots and pans. Our experiment study proves that how concave shaped lid is more efficient than regular household convex shaped lids. Because of closed concave shape, there is minimal heat (energy) loss and it also helps in cooking faster. The removable ergonomic handle is placed on the top of lid with slide and lock mechanism. The annular opening where we can fit the removable handle is used to stir or to pour ingredients without removing the entire lid. Working principle: As pressure rises, the temperature of water and steam trapped inside closed pot also rises above normal 100°C because of which boiling pint of liquid/food gets shifted to higher point. Hot vapors and trapped air continuous to raise the temperature inside the vessel which leads to reducing in cooking time. When opening the lid to add ingredients or to stir the food, the developed pressure inside the pot gets lost. After completely opening the lid, developed pressure inside the vessel levels with atmospheric pressure due to which cold air in atmosphere again enters back in the vessel. It again takes some time for vessel to generate the same pressure again which leads to the wastage of energy. To increase the pressure again to desired level there will be extra consumption of gas which can be avoided with the proposed design. In our design, concave shape of lid is proposed because tendency of hot air or vapors is to travel in upward direction. Concave shape provides space for hot air/vapors at higher height than that of opening provided for stirring. Due to lower height of opening, most of the heat will be trapped inside the hollow concave portion created due to shape of the lid and very small amount of hot air or vapors would escape out of vessel after opening the small cover for stirring or any other purpose. Energy Saving Calculations: • One cubic meter of natural gas produces an average of 35301 BTU. At maximum flow rate, a 25000 BTU stove will consume 0.708 m3 of natural gas per hour. 25000/35301 = 0.708 m3 • In one minute, natural gas of 0.0118 ...
