The Challenge is design and development of a gear unit for a hydronic valve. This design incorporates a compound planetary gear setup. Almost zero backlash. Very low efficiency losses. Less than 15%. Very low friction and near Zero maintenance over life of mechanism. Enclosure design is so that mould release is easy. No thin walled protrusions or supports. The full torque can be carried by the enclosure, as I have added studs to the front that embed into the Red enclosure. This is in turn is bolted to the gear set enclosure. Assembly is easy from the bottom upwards. Motor first and the rest in layers. Ratio of the compound gear set : 452:1 Ratio of Spur gears: 2:1 Total gear ratio: 954:1 See animation videos included.
