The model I chose to create is a headphone-holding wheel. Headphones always become extremely tangled when they are not properly wrapped. My wheel design is a device that allows headphones to be wrapped in a compact manner without becoming tangled. The circular design allows for smooth and easy wrapping and unwrapping. The wheel also has notches for holding down the ends of the headphones. There are eight total notches, six on the outer surfaces, and two on the inner surfaces. The inner notches are designed to be used as the endpoints of the wrapping, while the outer ones are designed to stop slippage when wrapping. The elevated round surfaces in the center are designated as the finger hold locations. These surfaces are slightly concave to provide an ergonomic location to hold the wheel. There are also three holes in the inner surface, which can be used to cross the headphone cord to the opposite side if necessary. I used a MakerBot 3D printer to create one initial prototype and one final product of the wheel. The 3D printing method I have chosen is FDM, with PLA material.
