To resolve an issue of inflated common service electric bill of an apartment complex where I am an owner of one unit, I built the ATS box first. When I tried to install that thing, I found the whole electric distribution is a total mess. So, I decided to replace the entire distribution with a new one. A homemade designer distribution panel with integrated ATS for separating a user from using the common service utility source. Generally, energy used by all loads in a unit having generator backup falls under common service utility bill. By default, this load is kept to a minimum but user tend to add loads on generator backed circuit and making the common service electric bill inflated. Solidworks helped me a lot to build the whole distribution panel in virtual space first then the actual fabrication and every bits and pieces fall into place exactly as designed during fabrication. Materials and components used, were selected from what is available here but those can be any similar things.
