Cryogenic Heat Exchanger with Helical Geometry and Swirl Pins Inspired by Shark Dermal Plates: This article presents the development of an additively manufactured cryogenic heat exchanger designed to overcome the limitations of traditional systems in space applications. The design combines a compact helical geometry with biomimetic pins inspired by shark scales, achieving a thermal efficiency of 97% with minimal pressure losses (0.36 psi). Key benefits include: • A 50% cost reduction compared to conventional methods due to a seamless, monolithic structure produced using metal 3D printing, eliminating critical failure points and requiring no assembly. Scalability to adapt to different space missions. (It could be made much lighter, but this design was optimized for the 0.06" thickness recommended for printing during the development of this challenge.) The attached document "Hx DaDoDs-eng.pdf" details the thermodynamic calculations, innovative design, and theoretical validations, demonstrating its viability for applications in space cryogenics. Characteristics : Diameter: 203mm Length: 500 mm Mass: 19 kg Exchange Surface: 2.8 m^2 Overall transfer coefficient (U) 413 (W/(m^2*K)) Power: 4237 W Power density: 223 w/kg Circuit 1: Input: 90 K, Output 295.5 K Circuit 1: Input: 300 K, Output 94.4 K
