Another concept I worked on was a hydraulic press designed to separate steel inserts from an aluminum component so both materials could be recovered and recycled more efficiently. What makes this type of project especially interesting is that the objective is not only to apply force. The real challenge is to apply the force in a controlled, repeatable and safe way so the inserts can be removed effectively while supporting the recycling process.
