I think this is the best orientation for i phone specially when driving. you can use GPS ,get video calls and also watching films in this orientation so efficiently. The placement of the dock will not obstruct the drivers view and he or she can enjoy their I phone without take off their eye from the road. And also the view of the I phone will not be obstructed by the steering wheel. This design will give high protection to your I phone even in heavy brakes. The slot at the bottom side is to the double tape. It will reduce the gap between the dash board and the dock after inserting the double tape.
