I enjoy riding motorcycles and sometimes I use my phone's GPS to get to places whose addresses I don't know very well. I need a mount to keep my phone secure on the bike, right in front of me while I'm riding. I searched here on the Thingiverse platform and saw that there are several different types, so I took an idea from here and another from there and designed one to test. It's not the best type, for sure, but it holds the smartphone firmly, resists vibrations well, it's just NOT WATERPROOF. I had to buy an accessory for the Honda NC750X that provides a Ø22 mm tube just above the instrument panel, allowing excellent visibility of both the panel and the smartphone. This phone holder is robust and attaches to the Honda accessory with two clips using 2 M5 x 35 mm Allen screws, and the mount closes with two M5 x 16 mm hex screws. I chose ABS material because it has superior resistance to sun and high temperatures, but it can be made from other materials without problems. The base is a template for cutting out and gluing felt to the bottom, which provides protection against scratches caused by vibration during travel.
