Just Another Caliper Stand - Only this one is made expressly for the Mitutoyo Absolute Digimatic 6" caliper as in the picture. I weigh frequency of use against non-frequency of use. The tools I frequently use are on the desk and readily available and the others not frequently used are stored in the back room, the desk drawer or in possession of my ex-wife where I will never see them again. Anyway, there are a plethora of caliper stands out there which do a great job and of similar looks/appearance/use, whatever; but after looking at others I decided to design this myself for balance on the stand, ease of printing, ease of use and to make the calipers there where and when I need them and all without leaving me scratching my head wondering "where did I put those calipers?" So this filled the bill. I used Fusion 360 and scanned the calipers at 300 DPI along with a ruler into the image and used the image as a canvas in Fusion 360. It was practice for me since I am barely a neophyte as compared to the engineers on this site. Both pieces can be printed without supports or rafts. I glued both pieces together with Methylene Chloride/Dichloromethane/ CH₂Cl₂ - OH JUST LOOK THE STUFF UP! It's as thin as water and bonds immediately; so don't mess up. Oh, and use available and appropriate safety equipment. ( that's for the folks that need directions on the shampoo bottle ) - but if you want to use hot glue or another adhesive agent of your choice that's ffiiiiiiiinnee. Again, the things I publish, as I have said before, aren't sexy, they're utilitarian. And if I have offended anyone in the Utilitarian religious sect, I apologize. Yes, there is a Utilitarian religious sect. No, I'm not a member. No I don't know anything more about them. Can we change the subject please? That's all for today.
