Submitted entry is 1:50 of original. Scale 50 times for exact dimensions. Problem Statement: Ship hull design varies with the compromising output of following formula: prismatic coefficient(Cp)=(Block Coefficient)/(Midsection coefficient)= Cb/Cm The fullness of a ship is defined by Cp and Cb. For an efficient hull shape, the fullness of the ship needs to be low. However, a very low value of fullness of ship makes the design impractical. On the other hand, by increasing fullness of ship, the shoulders become more prominent (overly exposed) and initiate the imbalance in streamline flow of water. Thereby, generates more resistance. Solution Summary: The design targeted the aforementioned problem through an add-on to the ship hull. The perspective of the solution is to maintain the streamline flow and generate lower resistance even when the fullness of ship is slightly greater, due to demand (and restriction), then optimally needed. The design of ship hull has few embossed fins at it shoulders (or where the formation of eddy current is maximum). The end of each fin possesses compressed air outlet. Through this, compressed air is blown to the periphery of hull, acting as a lubricant and creating a thin boundary layer separation between metallic body of hull and water. The fins are placed to guide the air and spread it along the length of hull.
