Kydex Vacuum Press (Surge Tank Design) · 模型 24117
This is the first release of a vacuum press design that I made for a friend so that they could make kydex parts. The surge tank design allows the use of much smaller (and cheaper) vacuum pumps while still providing a large initial surge of vaccum. To use it, you close the two valves that are in the same orientation and pull a vacuum in the pipe assembly. Hot thermoplastic is placed on top of a mold which is resting on the table and then the screen is pressed over the mold/plastic. The operator throws the middle valve which sucks the air from the box and forms the plastic over the mold. If you want to break the vacuum, you throw the last valve which allows outside air to fill the box. Since I first made this design, I've considered that some cheaper parts could be used, such as 3/4" ball valves instead of the 1" valves shown. The drawings are also very rough. I may make a new release, but I wanted to share the design in the mean time.
