The D.141 locomotives consist of a two-bogie frame with two front sections and a centrally located driver's cab, positioned somewhat towards the rear of the frame. Their structure is very similar to similar and widespread designs on other European railways. They are surrounded by a walkway equipped with safety handrails. They are fully bidirectional. The bogies are of the traditional type with leaf spring suspension.
