This is a 3D printable ornithopter based on a transverse shaft mechanism. A tutorial on how to assemble is and list of materials can be viewed at https://drewphi.github.io/Ornithopter_Public_Tutorial.pdf. This is design is fundamental and will supply you with everything you need to make an ornithopter except the wings. Spars are included for the tail and the wings but the actual wings must be designed by you. I recommend cutting them out of ICAREX coated polyester and using diagonal struts. On the downstroke the wing should deform onto the surface of a cone. This design has no steering capability, if you'd like you can upgrade it. It simply flaps at whatever frequency you'd like and stays airborne.
