The mondrian is a 3D printer design meant to be easily upgraded https://reprap.org/wiki/Mondrian The point of coreXY is to have both motors for horizontale axes fixed with the printer chassis --> less inertia on the print head --> faster movements without loosing quality And with dry linear guides because they were here and to avoid getting grease on your hands when handling the printer The original designer already tried a similar improvement with the Hbot kinematic which is pretty similar, maybe a bit easier to understand but can buckle unlike CoreXY : http://www.doublejumpelectric.com/projects/core_xy/2014-07-15-core_xy/ For now the printer do work mechanically as seen in this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39ccnslQoBo (could also move faster but forgot to take a video of that :/) Remains attaching the print head to the X carriage
