For this Take a Bite out of Malaria! 3d print challenge, I designed a smoker to get rid of annoying and dangerous mosquitoes . When i was on holiday in Greece i learned that wasps, mosquitoes and other flying bugs could be driven away by smoke. Therefore the restaurants had a special way to do that: they put a little cup on the table with glowing (burning) coffee residu on it. And by my surprise this worked excellent ! So when i was attented to this Take a Bite out of Malaria! challenge i tought of this and start to think how i could make a smoker. When i was tinkering i came out with an idea to recycle a soda can and use this for the part where the coffee residu could be put in, and burns in. but i also wanted to whole part to look usefull and about the design i started to think about amazing buildings in India and came with the idea to let the smoker top look like the Taj Mahal building in India. so here it is : the mosquito smoker HOW TO MAKE: -print the mosquito smoker top -find/or empty an sodacan 250 ml and cut this in halve -start collecting coffee residu from your machine, put it in a bowl and cover it with aluminum foil. leave this bowl in a dark, cool place and let the grounds dry completely. -when dried put some coffee residu in the halve sodacan,(more makes the burner smoke longer, this is a little bit trail and error) get a match or long lighter and put the residu to fire, let it burn for a few secs and then blow it out so the coffee residu will only glow -see the smoke become ticker and smell the burning coffee -put the smoker Taj Mahal top on the sodacan and put it where the mosquitoes are. -use one or more smokers to get rid of this annoying bugs -enjoy your outside time, or inside time with less of this creatures flying into your house ... -WARNING: MOSQUITO SMOKER CAN'T BE USED INSIDE !!!!
