I am submitting a concept that use a ‘Ground Engagement Tool/Filter Tool’ with in-build filtering system. This will filter out 1-2cm of rocks and has a compartment for collecting less than 1cm regolith. This tool would be attached to robotic arm on rover or lander. Tool would be scrapping top surface of moon till sufficient material is collected. Depending on availability of required 1-2cm rock near lander or on the path of rover, collection would be completed in less than 24 hours. No additional power is required for tool, however power would be required to operate robotic arm. Ideally the attachment would be common with other tools, so that same arm could accommodate multiple tools. This would be one of the tools that arm would handle. This concept is an extension of my earlier submitted option 1. Please review and let me know your views.
