NASA RASSOR DualSimple · 模型 267879
Version 1 of DualSimple Video of the test: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kd0nimczmqkjbwy/NASA%20RASSOR%20DualSimple.mp4?dl=0 A simple two scoop design built of aluminum casing and carbon fibre with a large usable volume. Inside there is an aluminum fin system designed to keep regolith from falling off unintentionally. Aluminum fin design will receive an upgrade for version 2 of this design. Blades are changeable. I will also attempt to create a prototype of the model with a 3D printer to verify the effectiveness of the internal design. Mass of the drum: 4kg Max width of scoop at any given time: 118mm Max bucket diameter: 440mm Max bucket drum lenght: 360mm Volume of regolith captured: ~36 litres Update 14.4.2020: Hello, I just carried out an experiment with a 3D model of the design scaled down to around 10cm in diameter. A transparent side was made out of polycarbonate. The experiment was done with floor heating cement and the result was this: The drum initially picked up the cement but quickly became stuck. The main reason I believe is the small size of the scaled down 3D printed model compared to the size of small fibres contained within the cement. I concluded that fine sand would've been a much better substance. However, I managed to get the drum to fill around 50% of the volume by scraping the drum against the cement container. Unfortunately, I noticed that small amounts of cement would slowly fall out while spinning freely in the scooping direction. The design needs a little bit of tweaking and also a test with bigger scale and a dry small particle substance without fibres.
