The rigid connection of the antenna parts occurs due to the contact of the wedge surfaces. The wedge angle is guaranteed to provide a friction force greater than the possible breaking force. The material of the wedge slats is mild steel. The requirement for the manufacturing accuracy of wedge slats is lower than for cones. When the 4 mm wedge slats intersect each other, surface contact occurs and slight deformation occurs. After some time, diffusion welding may occur. The total weight of the added parts is about 90 grams.
