This is a Lunar Tele-operated Rover-based configurable heliostat model(Lunar TORCH). It is intended to be used on the moon surface to primarily redirect sunlight to the target areas. The following design is based on a folding petal arrangement which allows very minimal package area(in its folded configuration) to a very large reflecting area once its unfolded. In full open configuration it can provide reflecting area of about 10m^2 and also panel of solar of about 1m^2 coupled in the same configuration. Such a design brings compactness, requires very less actuators and overall reduces complexity, thus cost too. Kindly see the Design Report for more details.
