Nefatavl, or Viking Chess, is a game played by Norseman in the 10th through 12th centuries. This version can be made by cutting the board into a piece of 12" x 12" wood and cutting 36 regular game pieces and one king piece into 1/8" thick plywood. 24 of the pieces should be painted, as should the corner and middle squares of the board.
