作者:Nicolas Seguenzia

My name is Nicolas Ignacio Seguenzia, I am a mechanical engineering student at the Faculty of Exact Sciences, Engineering and Surveying (FCEIA) of the National University of Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina (UNR): https://web.fceia.unr.edu.ar/es/ This is a practical work for the subject M-25 Synthesis of Mechanisms and Machines, directed by Professor https://grabcad.com/marcelo.valderrey-1 , and corresponds to the edition of this subject taken during the first quarter of 2024. It is a work based on the tutorial https://grabcad.com/tutorials/conceptual-design-challenge-artificial-gravity-for-human-colonies-on-the-moon-and-mars The NSF is an integral modular design that allows the moment of inertia to be changed to accelerate the habitats attached to it. This adjustment of the moment of inertia is carried out using linear guides mounted on the reticulated frames and circular guides installed on the floor. The total length of the mechanism is 225 meters, and to achieve this length, modular Pratt-style lattice frames are used that can be bolted together. The habitat will be mounted on a cradle-type support that incorporates the mechanism of uncoupled zippers with spring-loaded pin-type locks, ensuring the correct fastening and positioning of the habitat during its transfer and operation. Additionally, limit stops use bumper-type springs, similar to those used on train tracks on Earth, to absorb forces and ensure safe operation. Technical characteristics: RPM on Mars: 1.91 RPM on Moon: 1.97 Required power: 17,000 HP System radius: 225 meters Initial center of mass: 24.78 meters Constant K of the springs in the train type brake stops: 700 kN m Energy source: Solar panels Total area of energy source required (Mars + Moon): 153,773 m² Mechanical drive: Rack and pinion with electric motors Other technical data and specific calculations are in the PDF reports
