This is a water pump mechanism. Overcomplicated simply to show off 3D printing capabilities. Designed with generous tolerances allowing for 3D printing as a whole mechanism (does not need assembly after support material is removed). If it does reach the printing stage, to successfully remove the support material it should be submerged on its side to prevent balls clogging up valves.
