Here is the lower crankcase assembly, the engine uses a "dry" sump arrangement and the lower crankcase embodies both the pressure pumps and 2 scavenge pumps. The large plug at the front gives access to the crank timing marks. This casting is also a stuctural part of the crankcase adding to rigidity and strength. Dave
