PaddleBoard: Wave Walker · 模型 258854
Introducing the Wave Walker, the worlds’ first 3D printed, collapsible, Stand up paddle board!!!!! PRINT THIS MODEL IN SCALE, SHOULD FLOAT! TRY IT OUT!!NEVER BE BORED IN THE BATHTUB AGAIN! By using tension forces as the principle design parameter, the design can remain light, flexible and easy to collapse. It works by having the individual sections snug fit within each other via 2” deep pockets, the fit is snug but not overly tight. Then, by using a very lightweight cable, not a tube or pipe, all that needs to be done is to apply tension to the cable via a small adjuster in the back and this tension force acts to compress all the units into one cohesively bonded part. It’s lightweight, strong and simple and best of all, it still offers some flex. When the day of riding is done, simply slacken up the cables and crack the board in half, fold it up securely and pack it away for transportation. So ofcourse I finally decide to do this challenge right before the new sizing criteria was announced(*argh) So technically this model adhere’s to all the original criteria proposed, almost. The sections might need a slight scale adjustment because I forgot to take into consideration the extra length of the “keyed” insert section. The sections come in at just under 19”x13”x6” and weigh approximately 3.2 lbs each on average. I used the thinnest wall thickness possible that I thought would still be structurally sound, .13” and using a plastic density of .034lbs/Inch^3, the weight of the 12 plastic sections only comes up to around 39lbs. More details on weight and dimension can be found throughout the renderings. Technial details ****** I wasn’t sure exactly how the 3D printing process would work with this model printer so I assumed that filler material would be used, I designed in plug holes to allow water to get in and dissolve the filler material, the plug holes can be plugged after with the included plug cap part files I’ve included. They can either be 3D printed, pushed or permanently glued into place or the cap can be molded out of rubber for easy removal and to allow possible experimentation with ballasting. I did not include files for the Non 3D printed parts, these parts are the cables, cable nuts, cross bars and tarp which you stand on. These items would need to made after the printing process to complete the whole package and make the Wave Walker useable, luckily they could be made on the cheap. Also, wood or bamboo could be substituted for t...
